This Week in Reading (Sep 8 - Sep 11)

This is a short school week thanks to the Labor Day holiday (Yippie).

This week we will be finishing up our Author Study on Georgia Author Carson McCullers.

We will also be reading the following literary pieces: "Sarah Bagley: Fighter for Rights" and "Mrs. Flowers" by Maya Angelou.

We will be learning more about the literary element of IMAGERY.

The vocabulary test for this week has been rescheduled due to our September 11th ceremony on Friday. The date will be announced and published on Monday.

VOCABULARY WORDS: abuse, baffle, barbarism, bewilder, calamity, deceive, folklore, knoll, novelty, and sincerity.

This Week in Reading (Aug 31- Sep 04)

This week we will have our first trip to the library and check out our first Book Talk books (deadline is Oct. 1st). Any student who is unable to checkout books from the library will checkout a book from the classroom for his/her Book Talk. There will be NO exceptions to our BOOK TALK DEADLINES!!!

We will also continue reading our classroom novel "Catherine Called Birdy" by Karen Cushman.

Remember, Home Reading Logs are due EVERY FRIDAY......
