This Week in Reading

We have just finished reading our 2nd classroom novel, "A Day No Pigs Would Die." It was a wonderful read and the students seemed to really rejoy it. The deadline for completing the AR test for this book was Friday, November 20, 2009. Any student not completing the AR test will receive a zero as the test grade for the book.

We are now out of school for the Thanksgiving break. I hope you all enjoy your week off, as I will.

Parents, please continue to encourage our students to complete and turn in their weekly reading logs.

We also have just finished our 2nd Book Talks. The students who delivered their book talks did a FANTASTIC job! Just SUPERB! Remember that Book Talks are MAJOR project grades! Since we have now completed two cycles of Book Talks, and the students have acquired invaluable experience delivering them, the Book Talks for the remainder of the school year will count as 2 TEST GRADES . . .yes, TWO TEST GRADES each! Students need to be diligent and serious about their reading and delivery of book talks.

For Book Club members, we will be collecting gently used or new magazines for area hospital waiting rooms as our community outreach project. Everyone, please feel free to donate by sending the magazines to school with our students to be deposited in our magazine bends located in the rotunda when we get back from break.

As always, and with warm regards,

Richness Thru Reading,

K. Jones
